would have been easier to use a skid steer or mini excavator and much safer and no sink or float test would have been needed. we have got a few jeeps stuck by rock slides and washouts here in the coal mountains. with a small machine you can fix or make a road in just a few min we take a side by side mule to carry gear. but all that matters is ya all made it out safe and got it out. thanks for sharing

Love this episode, Saw the title "J20" , That Got my attention. So sat down, then started in on some pie the neighbor lady delivered me and a Heapin plate of food, REAL delicious food too BTW, interesting, I Have the full size Jeep 20 version 4X4 Long wide bed.. 1976 360 Engine 4bbl Factory T-18, D20 Transfer case, 8 Lug rims, just a flat out older beefy 4X4 Rig, 47K Orig miles. Absolutely ZERO Rust of any sort or amount, Never any body damage, None! (bragging a bit here). Still like Ed's smaller version, I'd like to have one of someday maybe.

Fewer people out f-ing up the woods would reduce the need for this. If you can't hike into wilderness, it ceases to be wild.

I haven't read the comments yet. You should have just hired a helicopter, it could have easily plucked that thing out of the woods and dropped it 20 mins later and been done with it. I'm tired after watching this, it was way to much freakin work!! Great job though. And Lindsey... did you really think you were gonna walk across that twig or what?? HaHa I don't think so..... Splash. Brrrr.... That water was snow not to long before you fell in it!

Umm... Not to make an obvious point, but wouldn't it have worked a lil better of they would have put some good tires on it... Just asking for research purposes

I guess, you had a lot of fun... When i was young, i made also such crazy things. I drove my motocycle all the way from Cologne Germany to India. About 12.000 miles, and the roads were very rough. When i reached India, i was completly wasted, so i sold the bike in Kathmandu Nepal and enjoyed to travel by train, bus, plane and rikshaw. I was 4 years on the road. And finally Jesus picked me up. Thank you lord. Greetings from Lamspringe Germany from DANIEL.

Y'all would have had fun with the Scout II that did a half-gainer off the Snowbridge into the Crystal River (Colorado Rockies) back in the 80's. Guy driving it didn't realize he wasn't over the road but the river, tried to turn up to the road, no traction on the snow. Couldn't back up, no traction on the snow. Put it in park to walk out and get help... truck slid down and off the end of the slide and punched the roof on a boulder. By the time the recovery service winched that Scout up to the road, the only part NOT damaged was the ashtray.

40 YRS, THOSE UPGRADES SHOULD'VE INCLUDED A SNORKEL KIT. The LJ20 was introduced in the Japanese Domestic Market in May 1972. The LJ20 marked the introduction of a new water-cooled engine, replacing the air-cooled engine used by the LJ10. The new two-stroke, water-cooled engine gave the LJ20 more torgue at low and mid-range engine speeds and an impressive maximum hill-climb angle of 35°. Durability of the new engine was proven to the world when the LJ20 finished the Mexican 1000 Rally intact after 34 hours of racing against competitors with larger engines. tHE MODEL WITH THE ROOF IS THE LJ20V
